2008 Beijing Olympics Games starts this August 8
One World, One Dream - this is the Olympic slogan calling upon the world to unite in the Olympic spirit. Last July 13, 2001, International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded the Olympic Games to Beijing after an exhaustive ballot. The five Fuwa mascots of Beijing 2008 (Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, Nini) representing the Olympic rings and a symbol of Chinese Culture.
Total of 206 countries participating on this event with 38 sports such as archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, canoe/kayak flat-water, canoe/kayak slalom, cycling BMX, cycling mountain bike, cycling road, cycling track, diving, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics artistic, gymnastic rhythmic, trampoline, handball, hockey, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, shooting, softball, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling.
