Kevin MitnickKevin Mitnick has signed a book deal with Little, Brown and Company, giving him the opportunity to refute the outrageous claims made against him—really, he could start a nuclear war by whistling into a telephone?—while making a few dollars in the process. A tell-all, if you will.

Mitnick, who was released in 2001 after serving five years in jail, announced that he has a contract to write his life story and showed a preview for a reality-based TV series in development in which he would test corporate networks by trying to break into them. As part of his plea agreement, he was banned from writing a tell-all until 2007. He also runs a security consulting firm and lectures.

Mitnick, if you don’t already know and didn’t bother to watch the movie, is probably the most famous “hacker” out there, imprisoned in 1999 for destroy the Western World for all time. So we were led to believe, that is. Watch the documentary Freedom Downtime on Google Video.

Eraserheads Reunite this August 2008

July 15, 2008 · Filed Under Entertainment · 6 Comments
eraserheads concert 2008Lift your head, baby, don’t be scared / Of the things that could go wrong along the way / You’ll get by with a smile / You can’t win at everything but you can try. Remembering those days with my high school classmates, singing this song in field trips and break time. Since MP3 became part of the trend, I included it to my playlist and regularly play it. I’m glad when I have read Ricky Lo’s write-ups in Philippine Star last Sunday that Eraserheads will have a reunion concert this August. Here’s the article:

Flash: Eraserheads reunite!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Yes, it’s confirmed: The Eraserheads are reuniting after many years of being apart, not for good but only for one show slated for Aug. 30 at the CCP Open Grounds.

According to the STAR source, all the original members (photo) are performing — Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan.

This piece of good news should make the Eraserheads fans very happy.

Said to be the ‘greatest Pinoy band,’ the Eraserheads will sing all their hit songs, including Alapaap, Toyang and Ang Huling El Bimbo.

Waah! Why only now? I was in the Philippines for more than a month but it’s only now that I’m here in Singapore and they are going to have a concert. I will not be able to see it but I’m still happy for these guys to reunite again for a concert. I hope someone will televise and upload it in any video-sharing websites

Snarfer the free RSS and Atom reader

July 13, 2008 · Filed Under Software · Comment
snarfer feed readerThis top-notch feed reader will devour your RSS and Atom feeds, though some users might find it too basic. Snarfer keenly follows the “keep it simple” adage in every function. An uncomplicated, uncluttered interface follows a generic layout of left-side listed entries and a central preview pane. Set your browser to recognize Snarfer as your feed catcher and you’ll find the program has already entered the link from the clipboard into your add-feed dialog.

To save an entry, simply drag it to a Save folder. E-mailing an entry and other basic functions are available in the context menu, while helpful wizards make it a snap to add and save Craigslist or eBay searches. Especially helpful is the prominent Quick Search box, though searches can’t be limited to a single feed. Feed updates and update intervals are easily set, and users can elect to automatically save entries they have read or have them expire after a certain number saved. You can also import feeds from other readers using OPML.

This is a perfect first feed-reader for newbies, although experienced readers will miss customizations like changing fonts and preview pane location. Nevertheless, we recommend this freeware feed reader for its simplicity, small footprint, presentation, and efficiency.

Chocolate cake and movie tickets on my birthday

July 13, 2008 · Filed Under General · 1 Comment
mini chocolate cakeThursday night: After office hours, my girlfriend and I directed to Golden Village Cinema at Northpoint Shopping Centre to buy two last full show movie tickets. It was still one hour before the movie starts so we went to the food court and had dinner. I ate Indian Chicken Bariani Set and Rocky took Korean Tender Beef Bowl that night. We finished our food and decided to roam around the mall. While looking for something special we saw a cute mini chocolate cake and immediately bought it for S$2.60.

We arrived at the movie theatre around 9 o’clock unfortunately we we’re not allowed to bring the cake inside. We asked the staff if they could keep the cake for us, luckily they kept our cake in their fridge and gave us a claim coupon. The movie started at 9:25 PM so we had to sit on the couch near the entrance of Hall 6 and wait to see the funny film of Adam Sandler entitled “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan”.

I really enjoyed that night as I first celebrated my birthday in Singapore with my girlfriend. Thanks for giving me my favorite Ferrero Rocher chocolate.
